About Us
The Restoration and Renewal Programme governance was set up under the Parliamentary Buildings (Restoration and Renewal) Act 2019.
In June 2022, the Commissions of both Houses of Parliament recommended a new approach to the works, which would give them joint oversight of the Programme. Following approval by the Members of the two Houses in July 2022, the Client Team was established.
The Client Team is a joint department of the two Houses and replaces the sponsorship function. The Delivery Authority remains responsible for designing and delivering the restoration work.
The Commissions agreed that the programme of works should initially focus on the following priority areas:
- Fire safety and protection.
- Replacement of mechanical, electrical, drainage and plumbing, and data and communications system
- Asbestos management and wider health and safety issues.
- Conservation of the building fabric including stonework.
